Bakhvi 2b Hydropower
Bakhvi 2 HPP comprises of the run-of-river small and medium size plants (Bakhvi 2a and Bakhvi 2b) project planned along the Bakhvistskali River in the Chokhatauri and Ozurgeti municipalities of the Guria region.
- The installed capacity of the Bakhvi 2a HPP is 23.8 MW, while annual production – 88.8 GWh;
- The project has a main building, a fish pass, an underground pipe and a HPP building;
- The generated electricity will be connected to the 35-kilowatt transmission line at the planned 110/35-kilowatt substation adjacent to Bakhvi 1 HPP.

Questions and answers
The Bakhvi 2 HPP project comprises two stations: Bakhvi 2a and Bakhvi 2b. Situated in the Ozurgeti municipality, the project area of the Bakhvi 2 hydropower station is downstream of the Bakhvi 1 HPP. Concerning the proximity of the HPP infrastructure to settlements, the nearest facility of Bakhvi 2 HPP is located 6.6 km away from Bakhmaro, while the furthest downstream facility is situated at the distance of2.8 km from the village Ukanava. The elevation disparity between the main building of Bakhvi 2a HPP and Bakhmaro stands at 530 meters.
It is worth noting that, unlike other sources of electricity generation, hydropower plants can instantly supply the generated electricity to the grid. Especially with reservoirs, they stand out as the most reliable and cost-effective form of energy storage. Additionally, they serve as a means of flood control, and most importantly, they represent the most stable and affordable resource among renewable energy sources, particularly for base load requirements. In contrast, the output of wind and solar plants is subject to the day-night cycle and wind patterns. Consequently, they aren't continuously renewable. Therefore, a country must have a sustainable, continuously renewable, and stable resource. Considering these factors, wind and solar power plants are intermittent energy sources, reliant on specific circumstances, while hydropower plants consistently generate electricity.
Security is a paramount concern for our team, and we approach it very seriously. In the company, there is a dedicated labor safety service responsible for managing on-site security matters. This department operates according to a meticulously crafted plan, ensuring all employees receive relevant education and training before commencing their duties. Additionally, each new employee is provided with personal protective equipment that adheres to the technical regulations of Georgia. The project has a professional doctor on site, who is equipped to assist employees in the event of health complications of any severity. Labor safety officers closely monitor the work process to maintain the highest safety standards. Moreover, all companies collaborating with Bakhvi HPP during the construction process, are mandated to have a designated labor safety officer.
