Our aim is to enhance the lives of population in the villages surrounding the Bakhvi HPP construction area and promote comprehensive development locally. In implementing each project, sustainability and transparency—together with stakeholder engagement—are important components. We implemented the social program in collaboration with the very people for whom it is intended.
Bakhvi HPP Advisory Council

On August 5, 2021, the Advisory Council was established to further enhance the environmental and social governance of the Bakhvi Hydropower Plant (HPP); the Council has since been working effectively. The Advisory Council comprises representatives from various stakeholders interested in the Bakhvi HPP project (including non-governmental sector, media, business, and local government) from Ozurgeti and Chokhatauri municipalities. The Council serves as a deliberative body. Since 2021, regular meetings have been convened where company representatives provide updates and propose initiatives concerning the project's development. These meetings also facilitate discussions on topics of interest to the involved groups. Essentially, the Advisory Council acts as a mediator between the community and the company since consensus-based decision-making is fundamental for ensuring smooth operations. The Bakhvi HPP Advisory Council project has been honored with the United Nations Global Compact Corporate Sustainability Award. An international jury recognized the company’s efforts in achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16—Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.

Transparency and accointability are cornerstones of our corporate phylosophy. In this regard, the media plays an immensely significant role. As the project progresses, we consistently disseminate information through local media channels.
Monthly Newsletter
From July 2021 through December 2025, during the active construction phase of the project, a monthly newsletter was prepared and distributed door-to-door in the villages located near the project area. These included the following villages in Ozurgeti Municipality: Mtispiri, Okroskedi, Vaniskedi and Ukanava, as well as Chkhakaura village in Chokhatauri Municipality. The newsletter was also distributed to the respective municipal administrations.
The newsletter was published monthly, with a circulation of 500 copies per issue. It served as an important means of sharing information about the company’s project and activities with local residents, including those who, for various reasons, had limited or no access to the internet.
Trainings
To raise awareness about renewable energy, from 2021 through 2025, we held annual workshops and training sessions for journalists. As part of the training, we provided information on hydropower, as well as Western standards and practices for the construction and development of hydropower plants. We also organized field visits to hydropower plants of various scales.
