Bakhvi HPP Advisory Council

· On August 5, 2021, the Advisory Council was established to further enhance the environmental and social governance of the Bakhvi Hydropower Plant (HPP); the Council has since been working effectively. The Advisory Council comprises representatives from various stakeholders interested in the Bakhvi HPP project (including non-governmental sector, media, business, and local government) from Ozurgeti and Chokhatauri municipalities. The Council serves as a deliberative body. Since 2021, regular meetings have been convened where company representatives provide updates and propose initiatives concerning the project's development. These meetings also facilitate discussions on topics of interest to the involved groups. Essentially, the Advisory Councilacts as a mediator between the community and the company since consensus-based decision-making is fundamental for ensuring smooth operations.

Transparency and accointability are cornerstones of our corporate phylosophy. In this regard, the media plays an immensely significant role. As the project progresses, we consistently disseminate information through local media channels.
Monthly Newsletter
From July 2021, a monthly newsletter is being prepared. The newspaper is delivered door-to-door in the villages of our project area, specifically in the villages of Ozurgeti municipality: Mtispiri, Okroskedi, Vaniskedi, Ukanava, and Chkhakaura village of Chokhatauri municipality. It is also delivevered to the municipal administrations. The newsletter has a circulation of 500 copies per month and the reach - up to 1500 people. It serves as a means to provide information about the projects undertaken by our company to those who have limited or no access to the internet for various reasons.
Trainings
To raise awareness about renewable energies, we hold workshops and trainings for journalists every year. As part of the training, we discuss hydropower, along with the hydropower plant construction and development standards practiced in the West, according which Bakhvi HPP is being constructed. We we arrange field trips to hydropower plants of various scales.
