Bakhvi 2a Hydropower
Bakhvi 2 HPP comprises of the run-of-river small and medium size plants (Bakhvi 2a and Bakhvi 2b) project planned along the Bakhvistskali River in the Chokhatauri and Ozurgeti municipalities of the Guria region.
- The installed capacity of the Bakhvi 2a HPP is 11.6 MW, while annual production – 45.5 GWh;
- The project has a main building, a fish pass, an underground pipe and a HPP building;
- The generated electricity will be connected to the 35-kilowatt transmission line at the planned 110/35-kilowatt substation adjacent to Bakhvi 1 HPP.

Questions and answers
The Bakhvi 2 HPP project comprises two stations: Bakhvi 2a and Bakhvi 2b. Situated in the Ozurgeti municipality, the project area of the Bakhvi 2 hydropower station is downstream of the Bakhvi 1 HPP. Concerning the proximity of the HPP infrastructure to settlements, the nearest facility of Bakhvi 2 HPP is located 6.6 km away from Bakhmaro, while the furthest downstream facility is situated at the distance of2.8 km from the village Ukanava. The elevation disparity between the main building of Bakhvi 2a HPP and Bakhmaro stands at 530 meters.
Considering the spatial distribution of the permanent and temporary structures outlined in the Bakhvi 2 HPP project and the significant distances between them, the construction-related noise is expected to have a negligible effect. The main building of the Bakhvi 2 HPP project is located 4.5 km from Chadrekili, while the Bakhvi 2b HPP building, as planned, is situated 2.8 km from Ukanava. Consequently, noise pollution will be minimal. Regarding dust generation, the narrow valley's topography will help limit the dust impact on the local population. Mitigation measures will be implemented periodically and in accordance with the construction plan to further reduce dust generated by construction traffic.
The project's construction site is situated 1.8 kilometers from the nearest residential area, ensuring that any noise, dust, or other disturbances resulting from construction activities won't inconvenience residents. Safety measures will be strictly enforced for any temporary construction near the village. This includes fencing off the construction site with warning signs and having a dedicated supervisor onsite to oversee safety protocols. Safety trainings have already been conducted for schoolchildren to increase children's awareness of compliance with safety norms.
