ESG Team of the Bakvi Hydropower Plant (HPP) is actively working on the implementation of the measures outlined in the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report. As you may recall, biodiversity studies at the construction site were conducted by British and French environmental experts in 2021-2022. The findings of these studies served as the basis for the action plan aimed at mitigating any potential environmental damage during the construction phase. From the very first days of construction, the Bakvi HPP team has been following this action plan, developed by globally recognized experts.
Ongoing Monitoring Plan:
• Monitoring of surface water quality • Monitoring of habitats, vegetation cover, and resident/visitor wildlife within and around the project corridor • Study of the biological environment of the Bakviskali River • Biodiversity monitoring, which includes: 1) habitat monitoring; 2) wildlife monitoring; 3) monitoring of reptiles and amphibians • Research on noise, vibration, and dust levels
Research Frequency: • Once per quarter
