On July 29, 2022, Mikheil Nibladze, Director of Caucasus Clean Energy Holding, Giorgi Abramishvili, Head of Bakhvi HPP (Bakhvi 1 and Bakhvi 2), as well as environmental and social projects team members attended the Georgian Tea Festival held on the territory of Musicians Park in Shekvetili, in Ozurgeti.
The products of the Georgian tea producing small and medium enterprises from different regions were presented at the festival. Also, honey, dried fruits, wine and berry products made by local entrepreneurs were presented. The tea preparation masterclass was held at the festival. This year the title of the Best Georgian Tea was awarded to “White Tea” produced by LLC Anditri.
The festival has been held in Guria for the second year. The goal of the project is to promote employment, establish new business contacts, introduce the entrepreneurial potential of Guria region to the wider public, local and international groups.
“When we planned the Bakhvi 1 Hydro Power Plant project, we immediately started thinking about sustainable development projects, which our company would implement as a sign of good will and present the region with a gift. We conducted a small survey and realized that the phenomenon of the Guria tea needed preservation. It has a potential for development. Kakheti is a homeland of vine, and Guria can be positioned as a homeland of the Georgian tea. From 2021, together with the USAID Economic Security Program, we have strengthened the Tea Association. We work together to create a unified standard of tea and introduce and develop tea as an element of hospitality in the hospitality sector,” stated Giorgi Abramishvili, Director of Bakhvi HPP.
The festival was organized by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), Georgian National Tourism Administration and Ozurgeti Municipality Mayor’s Office.
