The management of Bakhvi HPP has commissioned an additional study on local climate and its potential impact by engaging international expert Pierre Biderman, founder and principal researcher of the French company Alpage.
Findings of the Climate Study:
- The reservoirs of Bakhvi 2 HPP (Bakhvi 2a – 0.09 hectares and Bakhvi 2b – 0.04 hectares) are of such minimal size that they cannot affect the existing climate change and are highly unlikely to impact fog formation, its creation, or dissipation.
According to the concluding part of the international expert’s report:
- Considering the results of the study, the construction and operation of Bakhvi HPP cannot have measurable or significant impact on the macro or microclimate of the nearby inhabited areas or, more broadly, the watershed of the Bakhvi River.
- As no evidence supports any type of, let alone significant, negative impact on the macro and microclimate from Bakhvi HPP, the project does not require any climate-related mitigation measures.
