Starting from September 2023, Bakhvi HPP has initiated an updated series of informal educational training courses at Mtsipiri and Chkhakaura schools as part of their community-agreed social program. The new program includes additional topics such as climate change awareness and management, ecology, identifying natural disasters, and implementing necessary safety measures. Compared to previous years, the teaching approach now emphasizes greater student engagement. The program aims to raise awareness among students in grades IX, X, XI, and XII about renewable energy, environmental conservation, prudent use of natural resources, waste management, project writing skills, recycling in the context of climate change, information on natural disasters, safety behavior during such events, energy security, and the components and interconnections of the environment.
"Every year, we consider new directions in environmental protection that become relevant worldwide. Accordingly, we update our program to address contemporary challenges. Through our updated lecture series, students receive information about global developments. We hope they will incorporate and implement new habits in their daily lives to protect nature and share their knowledge with others, such as friends, younger siblings, and family members," stated David Koberidze, Bakhvi HPP's Environmental, Social and Governance Manager.

The educational program by Bakhvi HPP will be implemented from September 2023 to July 2024, encompassing 11 sessions, including one excursion and presentation, during which students will receive certificates. The environmental fundamentals and renewable energy module will be led by Giorgi Berechikidze, Head of the Forest Protection Department of the National Forestry Agency of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia. The communications session will be conducted by Khatuna Iosava, a public relations expert and invited lecturer at Caucasus University since 2015. Bakhvi HPP is the developer of the Bakhvi 1 and Bakhvi 2 hydropower plants in the Bakhvistskali River valley. The company's social programming includes educational components designed to raise awareness about renewable energy and environmental issues among senior students of Mtsipiri and Chkhakaura. This project has been in place since the spring of 2022 and is now successfully running its fourth semester.
