As part of Bakhvi HPP's social program for educational projects, two more students will benefit from the student grant program starting in September 2024. Mariam Beridze, a resident of the village Chkhakaura, has become a student at the Faculty of Ecology at Batumi Shota Rustaveli University, and Ketevan Matitaishvili from Mtispiri will study ecology at Ilia Chavchavadze University in Tbilisi. Both Ketevan and Mariam actively participated in the awareness-raising training program on renewable energy and environmental protection issues held at public schools in Chkhakaura and Mtispiri since 2022 under Bakhvi HPP’s educational project.
According to the terms of the Bakhvi HPP Student Grant, young people residing in the villages of Mtispiri and Chkhakaura who pursue studies in energy, engineering, and environmental protection fields will have 80% of their tuition fees covered by the company. The first beneficiary of this project was Jaba Bolkvadze from Mtispiri, who graduated from Mtispiri Public School in 2022 and is currently a third-year student in the Faculty of Energy at the Georgian Technical University, specializing in electrical engineering. Bakhvi HPP congratulates Mariam and Ketevan on their achievements and wish them great success in the vital and challenging field of environmental protection.ვულოცავთ, მარიამ და ქეთის და დიდ წარმატებებს ვუსურვებთ გარემოსდამცველების რთულ, საინტერესო პროფესიაში და დღეს ასე საჭირო პროფესიაში.
Mariam Beridze, Student Village Chkhakaura, Chokhatauri Municipality"For several years, I attended Bakhvi HPP’s training sessions at school, which sparked my interest in ecology. I participated in many events and activities, including Olympiads and environmental projects. I believe it’s crucial to protect our country's nature and understand modern environmental challenges. Bakhvi HPP’s student grant program is an essential motivator and support for us young people, especially in a country where awareness on this subject is still quite low. Plus, ecology is a promising and rewarding field for the future."
Ketevan Matitaishvili Village Mtispiri, Ozurgeti Municipality"I chose this profession because today’s environment, the place where we live, needs more care and protection. Citizens often neglect nature, not realizing the importance of their role. Raising awareness on this issue is essential. Bakhvi HPP’s student grant project gives us the opportunity to deepen our understanding of environmental protection and engage young people in this field. By doing so, we are not only helping our country but also contributing positively to our planet in the long term."
