Since September 2022, under the environmental and social projects of Bakhvi HPP, a student assistance program has been implemented. According to this program, the company will cover 80% of the tuition fees for young people living in the villages of Mtispiri and Chkhakaura who decide to study in the fields of energy or environmental protection. The first beneficiary of this project is Jaba Bolkvadze, a resident of Mtispiri village. He graduated from Mtispiri Public School in 2022 and continued his studies at the Faculty of Energy at the Georgian Technical University, majoring in Electrical Engineering.
Jaba Bolkvadze chose his future profession with the help of training sessions conducted by Bakhvi HPP, which are held in the public schools of Mtispiri and Chkhakaura, aiming to raise awareness among young people about renewable energy and environmental issues. The student successfully completed his first year at the university and is now preparing for the next stage with increased motivation.
- Jaba, first of all, thank you for finding time to talk to us despite your busy schedule. Let's start with your choice; you are a future energy specialist. How do you like this profession?
- This profession turned out to be very interesting for me. I believe this direction will be very useful in my life, and I have great potential for development. Especially in today's reality, when our country needs energy independence so much.
- How do you think your professional development in this field will benefit your village directly?
- First of all, I will use my village's resources for professional development. I want the village to become economically stronger, for residents to have employment opportunities, and for local incomes to increase. I will definitely return to Mtispiri and use the investment in my education correctly.
- Did your choice meet your expectations?
- My expectations regarding this profession have been fully met. The training sessions by Bakhvi HPP had a good result in raising my awareness. It is thanks to the company that I chose this profession and will continue to develop in this direction in the future.
- How is the learning process going? Are you facing any difficulties?
- Of course, I face many difficulties, but I try to understand each issue as much as possible and study it thoroughly. I work daily to improve my knowledge. The lecturers also help me, and the learning process is going very well.
- You are a Bakhvi HPP scholarship recipient, and 80% of your tuition fees are funded by the company. Is this fact more motivating for you
- This scholarship gave me a great stimulus. First of all, I would like to thank the company for their support.
I want to justify the company's expectations with good studies. I really didn't have the financial means to continue my studies in Tbilisi, but I received excellent information from the company. All of this enabled me to enroll in the university. Today, I feel like a successful student.
- How important is it for other companies to also be ready to support and implement similar educational projects?
- I think other companies should take this example as well. Educational projects strengthen the region. They promote the development of young people. The country needs qualified personnel. For young people, motivation is a great support to achieve success and be able to establish a firm footing in the region.
