In September 2025, the Bakhvi HPP Newsletter reached a remarkable milestone with the publication of its 50th, jubilee edition. Since its launch in July 2021, the newsletter has been published without interruption, consistently reaching readers eager to follow the progress of the Bakhvi Hydropower Plant project, as well as its environmental and social initiatives. Distributed exclusively in the villages surrounding the project site, the newsletter provides the local community with updates on project development, environmental activities, monitoring results, reports, social programs, and the beneficiaries of these initiatives.
Over the course of 50 editions, the newsletter has featured hundreds of news items and interviews—not only with project managers and invited experts, but also with local residents and representatives of stakeholder groups. Through its pages, the community has been introduced to many inspiring individuals: students, schoolchildren, teachers, entrepreneurs, start-up founders, distinguished professionals, artists, and athletes. The publication serves as a documentary chronicle of the hydropower plant’s construction and regularly presents reports of independent monitoring and research conducted by external experts.
“It has been 50 months since the start of our activities, and throughout this period, we have remained committed to keeping you informed. Transparency and timely communication about the project’s progress are among our highest priorities. Together, we have gone through many challenges and achievements. The journey of Bakhvi HPP is our shared story—of delivering on promises, building friendships, working with dignity, supporting one another, fostering development, caring for people and nature, and celebrating victories. Together, we care for the people, the environment, and the development of the region. Together, we fulfill our commitments. Together, we are building Bakhvi HPP—a project we will all be proud of,” said Nitsa Cholokashvili, Public Relations Manager of Bakhvi HPP.
The very existence of the newsletter—its content, and the way it is distributed, door to door—serves as tangible proof that Bakhvi HPP has honored the commitments made at the outset of the project: to ensure absolute transparency, to maintain dialogue with stakeholders, and to remain consistent in communication. Not a single month has passed without the newsletter being published and delivered. Today, the residents of the villages of Mtispiri, Chkhakaura, and Bakhmaro are well acquainted with the Bakhvi HPP Newsletter and look forward to receiving it each month.
