Mariam Vachnadze

Mariam Vachnadze joined the Bakhvi HPP team in 2023, initially supporting the Company’s public relations and external communication activities, including stakeholder communication, community newsletters, door-to-door engagement, press materials, event coordination, social media management, and public communication content development.

Since 2024, she has been working in the ESG direction, contributing to the environmental, social, and governance management of Bakhvi 1 and Bakhvi 2 HPPs. From 2026, she holds the position of ESG Manager.

In this role, Mariam is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the Company’s ESG policies, strategies, and management plans. Her work includes ensuring compliance with Georgian environmental and social legislation, ESIA and permit requirements, IFC and EIB Environmental and Social Standards, as well as investors’ requirements.

Mariam oversees the implementation of the Company’s environmental and social management framework, including ESMS execution, environmental and social risk management, contractor performance monitoring, compliance audits, field inspections, non-compliance tracking, stakeholder engagement, grievance management, ESG reporting, and coordination with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and external stakeholders. She also supports the transition of ESG controls to operational-phase requirements and contributes to the development of the long-term ESG strategy for the HPPs.

Mariam holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Policy and Management from the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA) and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Tbilisi State University. Her previous professional experience in public relations, communications, and journalism supports her role in maintaining transparent communication and effective stakeholder engagement.
