The second phase of a program for parents of children with disabilities and adolescents with special needs in Chokhatauri Municipality has officially concluded. Beginning in May 2025, the project will move into its third phase. The program, titled “Learn, Work, Act Together,” held a closing event in Chokhatauri, where project initiators and organizers summarized the year’s achievements and announced the continuation of the initiative.
announced the continuation of the initiative. “It’s important that the project continues to evolve each year. In the first year, our goal was to establish communication with parents and create a safe space where they could openly discuss their challenges. The second year focused on empowering individuals to take action and visualize development prospects. This year, we will continue to support and strengthen parents, with all our efforts aimed at expanding opportunities for children with disabilities. We are far ahead of where we were two years ago, and it brings us joy to continue this journey with the support of our partners,” said Maka Shanidze, Public Relations Manager at the NGO Women for Women. The project is implemented as part of the social responsibility program of Bakhvi HPP.
“The projects carried out within Bakhvi HPP’s social program stand out for their sustainability and systematic development. We believe that such an approach ensures lasting results and brings about real change. Today, we can already tell the story of how far we've come—from the early stages to the present. Together, through joint work and therapy, organizers and parents have helped break down stigma and reshape societal perceptions. The parents are now stronger and more confident, with a renewed sense of hope for the future. Additionally, the partnership forged between the private sector, the NGO, and the local government is a model of collaborative impact. We are proud and happy to continue supporting the program for another year,” stated Nitsa Cholokashvili, Head of Public Relations at Bakhvi HPP.
The Parent Club welcomed 13 new members this year, bringing the total number of active participants in the 2025 program to 25 beneficiaries. The first meetings of the new cycle are scheduled for May.
To conclude the annual review meeting, a children's play was performed by the program’s special needs participants in collaboration with youth from the Chokhatauri Youth and Culture Center. The event was attended by beneficiaries, representatives of local government, and Bakhvi HPP.
