Lasha Vashalomidze, a 22-year-old fighter from Mtispiri, is rapidly making a name for himself in rings across various countries. Recently, he achieved remarkable success in an MMA tournament held in Poland, which he attended with the support of Bakhvi Hydropower Plant. Fortunate enough to secure a well-deserved victory, Lasha is now setting his sights on even greater achievements.
Lasha, tell us about yourself. How did you reach this point in your career? “I have led an active lifestyle since childhood. For 10 years, I was dedicated to dancing. Eventually, I developed an interest in training. At first, I didn’t fully understand what mixed martial arts meant, but I saw people who were motivated, hardworking, and relentless in their training. This inspired me to pursue it. I train daily and constantly refine my fighting techniques. My goal is to reach the World Championship and win. As you may know, I recently competed in an MMA tournament in Poland, which has been named one of the largest tournaments in history, with 760 fighters participating. Representing Georgia in this arena was a source of immense pride for me. This motivated me further, and I achieved victory. I am determined to keep moving forward and to bring pride to my country.
Bakhvi Hydropower Plant supported you in this journey. How would you evaluate the impact of this company’s work in your village? Our region is currently facing migration issues. Many young people are leaving for employment abroad. Projects like this support local youth employment, which means they’re less likely to leave the village, and families can grow stronger. Bakhvi Hydropower Plant also implements many social initiatives in my village. Their assistance for me was a generous gesture from the company. The development of energy projects is vital for our village and for the country as a whole. I believe they are doing great work in the region, contributing to the nation’s growth.
