The Bakhvi HPP video series continues. This time, we present a feature highlighting the impact of the projects implemented within the Bakhvi HPP social program\u2014specifically, the initiatives supporting Gurian tea and strengthening local small entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n
From 2021 to 2024, together with our partner, the USAID Economic Security Program, we carried out the Gurian Tea Route Project. The initiative included support for small entrepreneurs, promotion of Gurian tea, diversification of sales channels, development of a tea quality standard, and enhancement of the hospitality component in communities located along the Gurian Tea Route.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn this project alone, 28 entrepreneurs directly benefited; today, around 20 micro and small tea-processing enterprises operate in Guria; the membership of the Tea Route Association is three times higher compared to 2020, before the project began; and the number of visitors to tourist locations along the Gurian Tea Route has significantly increased. For example, in 2024\u20132025, tourist sites welcomed 6,000 visitors, which is a record number compared to previous years,\u201d says Aleko Mameshvili, Head of the Tea Route Association, in our feature.<\/p>\n
